LOCATION / SHOOTING INFORMATION

Scenes Shot To Date And Where
None

Projected Shooting Dates
May 1999 until Late 1999
This date is dependant on numerous factors, including the construction of the sets, and is therefore subject to change.

It is likely that 'CGIS' will be shot during the spring and summer of 1999, with some exterior pick-ups in the fall. At this point, a release date late in 1999 seems possible but unlikely. It is more likely that the finished video will be released early in 2000.

What Is Happening Right Now?
Script Revision / Rehearsals
Major cast members have all received copies of the original draft of the script. We have had a number of run throughs already in parts. A few things have been brought to our attention such as awkward dialogue and other places where the script can be enhanced. These changes will be made shortly and shooting of some exterior scenes will begin soon!

Promotional Material
The company responsible for the Cool Guys In Space project is very busy, and with the complication of personal schedules to worry about, it is quite unbelievable that anything on this project gets done at all. Because there is a strong interest in the project, and due to the fact that nothing tangible has come of the project after nearly six months of active pre-production, the crew decided it was time to release some promotional material. Therefore a series of pictures were taken, and are being digitally enhanced so that there is at least some real backbone to the project. The pictures turned out remarkably well, and 4 prints are available in the Images section. New pictures will be available soon. Please keep in mind that the sets in the photos are computer generated. As cool as it looks, the sets in the actual movie will not be computer generated, but will be constructed to match the plans used to create the photo backgrounds.

Script
The script has been completed! It is 45 pages in screenplay format. All of the main characters have been cast, but there are still some supporting characters that need to be cast, as well as some minor characters and extras.

Sets/Props/Uniforms
The sets for the main bridge and the main engine room are now designed! Construction will begin very shortly!

They will most likely be constructed in a garage, then moved to a more suitable shooting location for their scenes, but the specifics are not worked out yet. We are trying to lock down shooting locations first to avoid unnecessary work in the long run.

Props are still being designed and assembled, and gathered as needed.

Uniforms have been designed, and are to be created soon. If you look at the new promotional shots, you'll see 3 of the characters from the film: Chase Ripley, Captain David Wright, and Commander Richard Douglas. Ripley's outfit is complete in the photos, and that is how he will appear in the movie. The others were wearing make-shift outfits put together quickly so that the promo pix could be created. Once the real uniforms are made, new promo pix will appear.

Computer Generated Effects
The main effects computer has been upgraded to 96 Meg, and a large hard drive has been added, as well as a video capture board with editing capabilities. This means that not only will the movie contain some complex entirely computer generated sequences, but now every piece of video shot will be encoded digitally into the computer for editing and output!

We also have plans to release the finished production on CD for playback on any computer! (Most likely in Quicktime, for multi-platform support...)
Check out the PICTURES section from the main menu for computer generated stills.

This 'CGIS' project is quite organized, which is necessary for an undertaking such as this. This page is designed to illustrate what is happening and what has happened with the project, if we have had any problems, and how they were solved. The project is quite new, and the information is slow in coming, but it will appear here eventually.
